After drying and processing, spirulina becomes spirulina flakes, which contain virtually no moisture, bacteria, or microorganisms. Vacuum packaging in this state essentially guarantees the quality and safety of the spirulina. Because the spirulina contains very little moisture and microorganisms, it can be stored at room temperature for long periods without spoiling, up to at least two years. However, spirulina can still spoil.
