What is the difference between algae oil DHA and fish oil DHA?

DHA is a polyunsaturated fatty acid that is very important to the human body. It is a main element for the growth and maintenance of cells in the nervous system. It is an important component of the brain and retina. The content in the human cerebral cortex is as high as 20%. The largest proportion in the world, accounting for about 50%

Algae DHA
It is extracted from algae. In contrast, algae is currently the purest and safest source of DHA in the world.

A Algae has high DHA content and very low EPA content. If DHA is extracted from algae, the ratio of DHA to EPA is 20:1, if it is extracted from fish oil, it is 4~5:1.
B The extraction of algae is purely natural and plant-based, without fishy smell, and strong antioxidant capacity. If deep-sea fish oil is extracted, its properties are more active and it is easy to oxidize and become fishy.

Fish DHA
Mainly extracted from deep-sea fish oil. DHA extracted from fish has the following characteristics:

A Although the DHA content of fish oil is relatively high, the EPA content is also relatively high, which has an adverse effect on the production of ARA in children.
B The high content of EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) makes the proportion of DHA too low, which is quite different from breast milk, and does not meet the child's physiological needs
C  Fishes will be polluted by heavy metals such as mercury and lead or harmful substances such as arsenic to varying degrees, and their safety is low.
D  DHA extracted from deep-sea fish oil is beneficial to the elderly and adults, because EPA has the effect of lowering blood lipids and thinning blood.

1) Different sources:
Algae oil DHA: directly extracted from marine single-celled algae, without food chain, no intervention in the marine environment, no pigment, safe and pollution-free;
Fish oil DHA: extracted from fish fat, there is product pollution caused by industrial toxins such as mercury accumulated during the growth process and transmission pollution in the food chain.
(2) Different nature:
Algae oil DHA: pure natural seaweed, plant DHA, strong antioxidant capacity, not easy to become fishy, easy to absorb;
Fish oil DHA: active in nature, easy to oxidize and become fishy.
(3) Different applicable people:
Algae oil DHA: especially suitable for pregnant women, fetuses and infants to absorb;
Fish oil DHA: elderly, adults.
(4) Different functions:
Algae oil DHA: Algae oil DHA is relatively more stable and safe, suitable for pregnant women and infants to eat, is conducive to the absorption of pregnant women, infants and young children, and promotes the development of the baby's brain and vision;
Fish oil DHA: Containing EPA has the effect of lowering blood fat and thinning blood viscosity.

Recommended daily dosage of DHA (World Health Organization):
The World Health Organization recommends calculations based on the weight of infants and young children
(1) The minimum daily intake of DHA for infants: 20mg/kg
(2) The minimum daily intake of young children should be: 100mg/kg
(3) The minimum daily intake of pregnant women should be: 300mg/kg
(4) The minimum daily intake of healthy people should be: 220mg/kg
